Replacing a Walk-In Cooler or Freezer Door
When a cold room door no longer seals, cold air escapes all day long: frost builds up around the frame, the refrigeration unit runs longer and energy costs rise. Replacing a worn or damaged door with a new insulated door is often more effective than repeated repairs to gaskets, hinges or closers.
For walk-in coolers and freezers we supply replacement swing and sliding doors in cooler (60 mm) and freezer (80 mm) versions, and high-speed rapid roll doors for busy openings, sized to your opening. For work areas at ambient temperature we also supply by-swing and office doors (40 mm); they are not cooler or freezer doors.
- Insulation (swing and sliding doors): rigid PIR foam — 60 mm (2.36 in) for coolers and 80 mm (3.15 in) for freezers down to 5 °F (−15 °C).
- Frame: extruded aluminum frame and counter-frame with double thermal break, fixed with hidden screws and designed for installation in standard 4-inch (101.6 mm) insulated panels.
- Freezer models: reinforced aluminum profile with a housing for frost resistance (low temperature).
- Options: left- or right-hand opening, viewing window, key lock with interior release, lower leaf protection.
To quote a replacement door we need: the clear opening width and height, the wall or panel thickness, the room temperature (cooler or freezer), the opening direction and a few photos of the current door and frame.
Replacement door FAQs
Can I replace only the door on my walk-in cooler or freezer?
Yes, we supply complete replacement doors with their own aluminum frame, designed for installation in standard 4-inch (101.6 mm) insulated panels. Every replacement is checked case by case: send us the opening size, wall thickness, temperature and a few photos, and we will confirm which door fits your opening before you order.
Which door is best as a replacement for a freezer?
A swing or sliding freezer door with 80 mm insulation, rated down to 5 °F (−15 °C), with a reinforced low-temperature frame profile. For very busy freezer openings, ask us about a high-speed rapid roll door in its negative-temperature version.

Walk-in cooler doors and walk-in freezer doors: which one?
Our insulated cold room doors are built for the temperature on the cold side of the opening:
- Walk-in cooler doors: swing or sliding doors with a 60 mm (2.36 in) insulated leaf.
- Walk-in freezer doors: swing or sliding doors with an 80 mm (3.15 in) leaf, rated down to 5 °F (−15 °C), with a reinforced low-temperature frame profile.
- Busy openings: high-speed rapid roll doors, with versions for negative temperatures down to −7.6 °F (−22 °C), depending on configuration.
- Kitchens and work areas (not cold rooms): by-swing doors and office doors with a 40 mm leaf.
We also supply replacement doors for existing walk-ins and offer installation; send the opening size and wall thickness with your quote request.
